How To Read Older GM Codes For Free ?

If you own a 1982 to 1995 GM car or truck, you justmight be able to read your trouble codes for free!The vehicle has a 12 PIN connector.

How to read the codes

• Ground terminals A and B (see diagram below) with the ignition “ON” and engine not running. The system will enter the diagnostic mode. In this mode, the computer will display a Code 12, three consecutive times, by flashing the “CHECK ENGINE”, “SERVICE ENGINE SOON” or “MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP” or light. A Code 12 consists of one flash, a short pause, then two flashes in rapid succession.
• After Code 12 is displayed, any stored trouble codes will be displayed by flashing the “CHECK ENGINE”, “SERVICE ENGINE SOON” or “MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP” light. All codes
are displayed 3 times each then a code 12 will repeat. In the diagnostic mode, the computer will also energize all computer controlled relays and solenoids.

OP-COM Driver installation And Software Activation

1. Firstly put the small CD that came with the package into the CD drive. Do not plug the device.
2. Copy the folder and its contents to a suitable location on your PC, the desktop is fine.
3. Now open the folder you copied, here you will see 2 yellow icons Op-Com.exe and activate password .exe, double click on activate password.exe
4. Now click on “Diagnostics” special is highlighted, double click on “special”, then “opel”, then “Diesel Pump”, then “PSG5”. This will open an activation screen, click on the activate button, this will open a small window with the activation code. Write this down then click on ok and close all windows by using Red X in top right corner.
5. Now connect the device using the supplied USB cable. The install new hardware wizard will start. Here you will need to install the drivers manually a by clicking on “Install from a
specific location”, then browse to the folder where the drivers are located (in the folder you copied earlier). Click ok and the drivers will be loaded. Leave device connected.
6. Now open the folder you copied, and double click on the OPCom.exe icon this will launch the program here you will see 2 yellow icons Op-Com.exe and activate password .exe, double click on activate password.exe
7. When the program runs click on diagnostics, then follow para 4, until you get the activation screen, now type in the number you wrote down earlier and then click on activate.
8. The device is now ready to use.
9. No updates are possible.

4) Launch PC-Link when installations completed.

15.What means INCODE?

INCODE is response part of CODED PATS challenge-response authentication mechanism. It is 16bit hexadecimal number Ford-VCM OBD or other diagnosis tester needs to send to a control unit in order to complete PATS operation. This number can be obtained using patscode.com service.

16.What means OUTCODE?

OUTCODE is challenge part of CODED PATS challenge-response authentication mechanism. It is 24bit hexadecimal number provided by a control unit. This number changes in time and is used by patscode.com service to calculate INCODE.

First make sure you have the following things you need.

1. CAT STW sw
2. RERR install disk(for data disks)
3. Data disks
a. If you only work on “on highway” equiptment you only need disk 1
b. if you downloaded the disks they will need to be extraced and made into vitual cds.
4. A user login file( .xml file)

Setup steps

1. Install STW
2. Licence STW ( with kg or post licence code and someone will help with a key)
3. import user login file ( .xml file)
a. open sis, click import user
b. click browse, find the SISusers xml file (make sure it is the doc not an arcive)
c. a screen will appear, check the user name and click import.
d. a login screen will appear, type in user name and pass
e. click login and done.
4. Install RERR disk
By now you shoud have STW/SIS almost working, you can login just cant look up anything.

The Data disks.

If downloaded they will need to be extraced and/or made in to vitual cds, Caterpillar sis doesn’t work with rar files.

You can go from here a few different ways.
a. make a vcd of each extracted disk and keep them where you keep your vcds
b. burn real cds and insert them as nessesary
c. leave them in the folder they were extraced to, in the folder will be a vcd image, this is what you will insert in your vcd drive.

What ever way you choose will work.

When you run Caterpillar SIS to look some thing up,Caterpillar SIS will tell you what disk is needed and in what drive to put it in.

Launch X431 DIAGIN III Install steps are described as below:
1. Follow Fig.a to push the bottom cabinet forward to open position,and then remove it.
2. Take out the battery form the package box and install it as indicated on Fg.b.
3. Cover the reader cabinet and push it backwards to the original position, as shown on Fig.c.
To disassemble the battery, reverse the steps that you followed to install the battery.

How to install Launch X431 Diagun III TF card

Installation steps are as follows:
1. Take out the TF card from package box.
2. Insert the TF card into the X-431 Diagun III TF card slot perpendicularly. Make sure it is fully inserted in the right place with the “micro “label facing upward. See Fig.d and e.

Cable (wired) Connection Procedure of X-4311 Diagun III:

1. Connect one end of the diagnostic cable to the USB port of X-431 Diagun III main unit;
2. Connect the other end of the diagnostic cable to the Micro USB port of the DBScar diagnostic connector;
3. Find out the vehicle’s DLC;
4. Plug the 16 PIN end of DBScar diagnostic connector into the vehicle’s DLC and the power indicators of X-431 Diagun III main unit and DBScar connector will light up.

1.Find out the vehicle’s DLC;

Step one:
Plug the X431 Diagun scan tool’s OBD-ii adapter plug into the car’s computer system OBD2 socket, and turn to the car’s ignition—but never get started it. pls make the 12V electric power.

Step two:
Start up the Launch X431 Diagun III scan tool.The display will come on,and just after it communicates with the car’s laptop for a number of seconds, it will display screen an Ok concept or simply a menu on Launch X431 Diagun III.

Step three:
Plug an X431 Diagun OBD2 reader right into a connection port on the car or truck. The X431 Diagun code reader can then interface along with the car’s central laptop, that may return a computer code that identifies the source of your problem.

PSOP44 Socket operate :
-Insert adapter to the device programmer ZIF socket according to the picture placed near of it. If you have some doubts about orientation of this adapter in device programmer ZIF socket, it is valid general rule, the orientation of the text of title is the same as the text on -the top of the device programmer.
-Push the top of adapter ZIF socket to open it. Insert the device into the adapter ZIF socket. The right position of the programmed device in adapter ZIF socket is show at picture near (mainly left above) the adapter ZIF socket. Then release adapter ZIF socket. If you use this adapter for devices with less than 44 pins, then place device to the bottom edge of adapter ZIFsocket. Upper contacts stay unconnected.
-Visually check interconnection between device and adapter ZIF socket. If everything looks OK, the device is ready for programming.
-Be careful, because the incorrect insertion of adapter to the device programmer ZIF socket or device to the adapter ZIF socket can damage the programmed device.
-To take out the device push the top of adapter ZIF socket and remove device from it.
-When you finish work with adapter, remove it from the device programmer ZIF socket.
-Do not directly touch the pins of the adapter and adapter ZIF socket, because dirt may cause errors during programming of device.
-For handling with the device we recommended to use a vacuum pick up tool.
-If programming yields isn’t 100% when using programming adapter or if some unreliability appears, try to connect one 22nF-100nF multilayer capacitor (that meet the EIA X7R or Z5U specification) between leads of adapter connected to pins VCC and GND pins of programmed chip.

Autel Maxidas DS708 Scanner Setup and Use

First, Connect MaxiDas DS708 to the Vehicle

Connect DS708 to the vehicle’s data link connector (DLC) with communication cable. The DLC is usually located 12 inches under instrument panel dash.

Second, Identifying the Vehicle with Maxidas ds708

Option 1: Select manually from the main menu.

During testing, only the options available for the vehicle and ECU being tested will appear on the DS708 screen.

1. Select the group of the manufacturer by highlighting menu option (USA, European or Asian).

2. Press the manufacturer key to enter a new screen. A dialog box pops up shows the loading process, wait until compete.

You may need to complete a series of selections to find your vehicle.

For some of the vehicle, Autel DS708 identify vehicle process is not needed. Component test screen appear at this stage already and allows you to perform the component test.

Option 2: Select from the Vehicle Record and select the Vehicle ID from the list.

Note: This option in DS708 is only available to those which have Auto Scan function. We take Honda as an example.

3. The following screen displays and asks for your confirmation, click Yes to select or click No to exit.

4. Then the screen shows the communication status.

5. The Information screen shows and asks you to input correct ODO value. Use the virtual keyboard to enter.

1) Drag the virtual keyboard with stylus to relocate.

2) Use the keyboard to fill in the dialog box with all the information as desired.

3) Select OK to finish and close the dialog box.

Optionally, use the drop-down dialog box to find the vehicle if the previous recode is available.

Option 3: Select by OBD II Quick Test

OBDII/ EOBD is used to provide a quick test for the users, in this section, the vehicle can be tested directly without completing the vehicle identification process for MaxiDas DS708.

Citroen and Seat services: there were the originals tools already. DS708 is virtually as great as original tools. (not all models but a great deal of them)

AUDI A8 2005: The functionof DS708 is exact same as VAGCom or other scanners, and, furthermore, each chanel and worth have description in 708.
Renault laguna II: I had access at all handle units, dtc ,actual data, active test functions alomost similar with Clip.

Ford Concentrate TDCI: DS708 has a menu like IDS and can acces each manage unit and just about all functions.

Volvo s60: DS708 showed to me lot of ECU data. there was some program alternatives as well.

MaxiDAS DS708 just isn’t the toy, it’s a pretty good option for originals tools. Autel MaxiDAS DS708 works with Asian, Euro and American vehicles. Iwill try some Japanese cars like Toyota, Honda, Nissan on DS708 later.

Third, Diagnose the vehicle with MaxiDas DS708.

During testing, only the options available for the vehicle and ECU being tested will appear on the screen. DS708 diagnostic functions may include: Auto Scan, Diagnostic Trouble Codes, Live Data, Freeze Frame, Component Test, I/M Readiness, O2 Mon. Test (O2 Monitor Test), On-Board Mon. Test, Vehicle Info, DTC Lookup, Playback.

Steps Update EBOOT for Digimaster 3

Notice: Before update EBOOT, please install Digimaster 3 TOOL first.

1. Press button “8” and “OK” at the same time, and turn the power on. When you see “Press OK to confirm and continue update Firmware”, press OK.

2. Connect Digimaster 3 with your computer through the purple Mini USB cable.

3. Select “install the software automatically”, click “Next”.

4. If Digimaster 3 is installed already, choose the second “SEC SOC SMDK Board”, and click “Next” to complete driver installation.

5. Launch “Digimaster 3 PC Tools” and select “Kernel Update”.

6. Make sure the purple Mini USB is connected.

7. Click “Kernel Update” and choose “EBOOT_20110427.bin”. Click “OK” to start EBOOT program update.

8. After a few seconds, if the Digimaster 3 screen appears a twinkling red ‘YH’ logo, EBOOT update is complete.

After that, please turn power off and choose an appropriate way to update the kernel.

Please attention: unload the anti-virus software and firewall temporarily to make sure the Digimaster 3 software running normally.
